It was a memorable night for Morocco as they reached the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals for the first time in 22 years. The hosts defeated Cameroon 2-0 in their quarter-final clash.
A record crowd of 64,178 watched the match at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Morocco put Cameroon's defence under pressure from the start and took the lead in the 26th minute.
Following a corner taken by Achraf Hakimi, Ayoub El Kaabi headed the ball into the penalty area, where Brahim Diaz made no mistake, firing home from close range. The Real Madrid midfielder has now scored in five consecutive matches in the tournament.
Cameroon tried to fight back after conceding but struggled to create clear-cut chances.
Although Cameroon enjoyed more possession after the break, they failed to find an equaliser. Instead, Morocco doubled their lead in the 73rd minute through Ismaël Saibari.
Saibari controlled the ball from a set-piece delivered by Abde Samad Ezzalzouli before unleashing a powerful shot from inside the box. It was the midfielder's first goal of the tournament.
Morocco have reached the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals for the first time since 2004. They will face either Algeria or Nigeria in the last four.
