International Women’s Day is observed worldwide on March 8. The day emerged from the long struggle for the rights of women workers and is celebrated to highlight women’s contributions, rights and equality.
Marking the special occasion, model and actress Nusraat Faria shared a post on social media featuring a video.
In the caption, the actress said society should break free from the habit of questioning every choice a woman makes—why she did something, why she did something else, why she wore a particular outfit or why she made a certain decision.
“In Faria’s words, “Were we born just to explain ourselves? Do we have to justify every step we take?”
Nusraat Faria further said that, just like everyone else, women have dreams and opinions, as well as the freedom and the right to live life on their own terms.
Her message on Women’s Day was simple: “Just let us be ourselves, and that will be enough.”
She believes that rights should not be determined by gender. Every individual, regardless of whether they are a woman or a man, should enjoy equal rights and freedom.
