Bangladesh Trial Report
Food items were distributed among underprivileged and distressed people in Dhaka on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations also observed the day through various programmes.
On Tuesday (March 17), 20–25 leaders and activists of an Awami League subcommittee distributed food items in the Agargaon area of Dhaka before iftar.
Former president of the Dhaka Ramna Kali Temple committee Utpal Saha also distributed food items at the temple.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League organised a doa and milad mahfil at a restaurant in the capital.
After the food distribution programme, former student leader and member of an Awami League subcommittee Muhammad Anwar Hossain said, “We are observing the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at a time when the illegal Yunus government has banned the Bangladesh Awami League—the organisation that led the country’s struggle for independence—through an illegal ordinance.”
He claimed that the majority of freedom-loving people in the country had taken a position against what he described as the “illegal ban” on the Awami League.
“Therefore, we, the former leaders of Chhatra League, demand the immediate withdrawal of the ban imposed on the Bangladesh Awami League,” he said.
Former student leaders Anwar Hossain, Nasim Al Momin Rupak, S M Abdur Rahim, Enamul Haque Prince, Amirul Islam, Md Ruhul Amin, Omar Faruk, Mizanur Rahman Jony, Dr Tushar, Dr Nitol, N I Saikat and Nurunnabi Raju were present during the food distribution programme.
